Birds Behaving Badly.

So you know that little copper hummer that we got all excited about? Well, he's been gone now for about a week, but before he left he bullied every one of our other little birdies. He'd hide in the tree, and when anyone came by for some nectar, he'd dive-bomb them and then go back to his hiding place. And do you know what? For the past week all our hummers have carried on his bullying behavior with each other! It's a wonder they haven't starved!

Speaking of starving, I did my bird report, Mom. Now, what about dinner?

  1. Izzy Izzitts! You deserve a great and plentiful dinner with seconds and thirds through the night. Great report!

  4. We've always known birdies are uncivilized. Not as horribly unmannered as squirrels but still. We think you gave a great report and totally deserve an amazing dinner.

  5. Wonderful bird report--hope the hummies get along better in the future! What kind of example are they setting for the cats??

  6. We’ve got one hummer here that bullies the other ones and won’t let them near the feeder. We don’t understand why because there’s enough food for all of them.

  9. That was not nice of the copper hummer to teach the others such bad manners! You gave a very good report and deserve a lovely dinner as reward.

  11. Just watching hummers will burn calories, Izzy! Or so I've heard; we don't have the pleasure of watching them, but I'm planting more flowers that might attract them to our yard next year.

  13. We only have ruby-throated hummers, but they fight each other all the time on their own. TBT keeps feeders in several places where they cant all be watched from any one spot.
