Winding Down.

Well, tomorrow is the last Mom day for a while. I think we're just going to relax together and be quiet. I know Mom will put up the flag at half-staff and commemorate something that happened before I was born and which still makes her very sad. She tells me it still makes a lot of people very sad.

Since I know now this happens and also that she's been hunting a lot, this vacation we wanted her to do something different. Eddie says that she used to do all kinds of fun and creative things and then she just didn't anymore. So I told her, "Mom, just do something fun every day, no matter what it is. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything, it just needs to be fun." And aside from the plumbing thing and the bad spell of vertigo, she did pretty well. At first I thought she would be working on quilts and stuff–we looked at fabric bits and picked out colors–but then we decided to make smaller things. I was kinda hoping for macaroni art on paper plates or woven potholders–like camp!–but Mom decided on jewelry because she has about 45 squillion beads and things. That turned out to be pretty fun. I got to help her decide what to put with what, every day!

Well, the excitement peaked yesterday. Mom was trying to finish something up so she could get to a sale at a local bead shop (she did kinda go bead mental this past week) when Caroline jumped down from the window on to Mom's work table. And right into a whole box of 15 kinds of sorted beads. Very little beads. That went everywhere.

And even though secretly I wanted to play with them, I thought I'd better stay clear for a while.

  1. It must haf taken all your will power not to go after all those beadies. You were prolly right to stay away.

  3. Staying clear was a good idea. Whenever I step in Mom's beads she gets right cranky. (But it's still kinda fun hehehe)

  4. Oh, oh. Was there big trouble at your house? Good thing you behaved and kept your paws to yourself William. I'm sure your mom appreciated it, though she probably knows how tempting all those beads are to Cats.
