So you may have noticed I wasn't here last week. Why I always have to wait an extra week because my mom gets a wild hair is beyond reason, but anyway.
One day she decided that she couldn't stand another moment looking at our ratty cat trees. The next thing we know, she's all busy ripping off the five different kinds of rope and the over-clawed remaining carpet on the posts!
Then she decided to clean the crow's nest and the cradles. And we're not talking about just removing 10 years of cat fur, no. She used some sort of
upholstery cleaner on them! No one liked the smell of that -- we wouldn't go near them!
In the meantime, she also decided to sand and finish the posts, re-rope the places we use for scratching, fashion a brace for one of the cradles my
obese extremely fluffy brother bent, and connect the two trees with something other than the overstretched bungee cord she had been using to stabilize them. (Again, my
obese extremely fluffy brother bounces from one tree to the other, which makes them tip and wobble to my mom's horror.)
Then, she thought she'd just re-cover the crow's nest and cradles. Well, the first try was a major fail, so thankfully she gave up on that plan. Instead she dragged out the steam cleaner and used the attachments to re-clean everything and tamp down that dreadful upholstery cleaner smell.
This whole thing took more than a week. More than a
week! More than a week of not being able to use our favorite place! It was awful.
Awful, I say!
Anyway, today we finally decided it was safe enough to give the improved trees a try.
We guess they'll do.
Hey, that was lots of work, your Mom really did good!
ReplyDeleteWow, your mom sure was busy for y'all. Did she get a tip?
ReplyDeleteWow! That’s something my mom would never do. She’s just so lazy. But just think…now you two can fur those trees up again!
ReplyDeleteI think your human did an awesome job!
ReplyDeleteTBT is doing the same "replacing the sisal rope" thing on our most-used posts. We will appreciate that. But he better leave some worn-out ones as he redoes the new rope or we will use his heavy jeans ta claw on while he is wearing them, MOL!
ReplyDeleteYour mom did a great job on your trees so now you can stink them up again!
ReplyDeleteMy mom is useless doing anything for me. She just scrapes together pennies and buys whatever after I wait forever.. She needs a lesson from here! And you all's comment yesterday on my blog had mom going. She actually snorted (she did!!) laughing as she didn't expect what you said. XX
ReplyDeleteOH. NO. SHE. DIDN'T.
ReplyDeleteShe de-furred and cleaned and fixed your climby things, and made you sit on the floor for over a week?!?
Sacrilege! Heresy! There oughta be a law against!
*wink*
P.S. Our climby thing is nailed into the floor, because when Da Boyz are chasing each other, they hit it at speed, and they aren't lightweights either.
doodz....ya noe; yur mom coulda saved a lotta time and trubull for knot onlee her self but for herself... if her wooda...... SAWED DE CROWZ NEZT OFF !!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete;) ♥♥☺☺
Wow! Your mom is crafty! Ours just would have bought a new one. She's kinda lazy. MOL
ReplyDeleteThe rope on our new tree is in bits and Dad has the new stuff in the garage. Can your Mom come over and fix us up?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your "new" trees while your Mom is having a well-deserved rest.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That was so sweet of her. We really need to do that here.
ReplyDeleteIt's a big chore to rehab the perches. Your mom did a great job.
ReplyDeleteYour Mom is purrfect! Our trees need the whole shebang done! Our human brother started to re-rope one tree, but stopped before he was 1/3 done - we have NOTHING to scratch! Now we are trying to guilt our Mom into doing it. Your post is purrfect for that! Thank You!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your mum did a pawsome job on the trees!!!
ReplyDeleteSecure and great looking too :)
Purrs, Julie
Good God, me and dad are exhausted just reading this whole process. I think mom and dad would've just gone out and bought a new tree! Glad you got your nesting spot back, though.
