Izzy's Bits.

See that dot near the arrow? It's the spider who used to be William's pet. He got her back in March!

She's an outdoor pet. She's withstood wind and rain and cold, too, but she's always managed to reappear and rebuild. Her web is attached from the edge of the sliding screen door to the frame, so my mom has to be careful if she goes out on the balcony.

Mom says I can continue to keep her as long as she stays outside.

  1. So Izzy, are you going to take over watching William's pet?
We think he would like that.
Mum says spiders are OK to watch as long as they stay outdoors too ;)

  7. William's spider looks kind of reddish to me, like the arrow. I guess she's all right for a pet. It's good she's outside though, because if she were in, she probably would be a snack, not a pet. I wonder if William might have been secretly hoping she'd wander in???

    1. She is kinda Izzy-colored, so it's fitting, isn't it?

  8. My human had a pet spider many years ago that lived on the porch off the kitchen of a house she was renting in Silver Lake. She called it the Amazing Spider Man because it was the biggest garden spider she had ever seen! I don't think she cat she had at the time knew about it.

    1. So did ours! Her pet spider was the most unique she'd ever seen, with a body that looked like inlaid mother of pearl. The spider had set up housekeeping under a drainpipe at the eaves, had two babies and then was suddenly gone (our mom figured a bird got her). After that, Mom saw one offspring living in a cactus plant but never saw another like it (or found one in a book to find out what kind it was).

  11. That's kinda cool. We tried to make a pet of a spider that came inside. But we played with it too hard. And you know what happened...
