Black cats are in the spotlight this time of year. And for all the wrong reasons. With the biggest being superstitions.
Since the middle ages, black cats have been plagued by superstitions. Things like a having black cat cross your path in moonlight means you will become sick. A black cat appearing at a funeral forecasts the death of another family member. A black cat walking away from you takes with it all of your luck. And of course, the numerous associations between black cats and witchcraft.
Sure these superstitions might seem silly, but they've made life tough for black cats. Especially around Halloween, when many animal shelters suspend black cat adoptions out of fear the cats will be harmed.
To give black cats a little help (and hopefully a lot), Dave K., the "dude" over at sixcatsonedude.com, put together this infographic on the benefits of owning a black cat. He lists 17 of them, some quite surprising. Why should you own a black cat? Just take a look below.

Stay safe on Halloween, everyone. (We're ready to hide, just in case.) And remember, no matter what the clocks say, start bugging your humans for dinner at your normal time! Have a great weekend!
