Um....Ivan, well Buddy, you might consider taking a trip over to, say...my house. And to do that, you need to get INTO the tunnel don'tcha know.
He can't be ambushed by some cat hiding inside of it, if he is on top of it!

That looks like a purrfectly acceptable use of a tunnel to me. If he gets up, though, will it spring out like some nightmarish inflatable raft?
You're right with having your doubts - but I think you're in bigger trouble than living with a not-so-clever flatmate - he's making sure that nobody gets to play with the tunnel! So we think he's trying to show his power.
I think you might call that a fail, Ivan.
