So our weekend was half OK, half boiling. Saturday my mom went to her company's summer picnic. It was held at a place where she said there were lots of geese, and we could smell them on her shoes! That was certainly interesting.
Sunday Mom was sick with the onset of a head cold. She hardly gets things like this, so combine that with the heat and it made for a cranky day. She stayed home today, too, but today the weather was much nicer--breezy and in the lower 80s. Whew, is all I can say.
Here's a picture of our other neighbor. The camera wanted to only focus on the tree, so you have to look carefully. Yes, that cat is half out the window! He or she sits like that all the time and doesn't ever try to jump down! The first time Mom saw this she nearly had a heart attack until she realized the cat was not in danger (i.e., not Russellish).
We took turns nursing Mom and it looks like she will sneeze and sniffle her way back to hunting tomorrow. And for all of you who've worried about us with all the smoke and wildfires we have going here in drought-ravaged NM, we're OK. Our monsoon season officially started last week, but as is becoming all too normal, no rains yet. If only we could take some of the water from folks who have been flooded this year...
William, it is super hot here, too, but our mom is not sick, thank goodness. Nursing the mom people is hard work, we think.
ReplyDeleteStay safe out there - we're glad the fires haven't come near you.
We would send you some of our rain if we could. We have enough to share.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though things could be better where you are, but that you're hanging in there -- sorta like that cat at the neighbor's. As long as the fire stays far away, that's the big thing.
ReplyDeleteGood job nursing your mom!
ReplyDeleteThat cat is really taking a chance, I think! He is making my mama nervous!
I sure am glad those evil fires are not bothering you! Many purrs to your Mom, I hope she feels all better soon!
ReplyDeleteThat neighbor cat must be a single cat. Cuz any fellow cat would bite its butt ta see it jump outta the winder!
ReplyDeleteWow--now THAT's an interesting sight! I would like to have a kitty like that outside my window!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that you have a little less hots today (and less smoke too, I hope!)
It was 88 here today which by my standards IS the hots!
Yuck, we're sorry your mom has a head cold. Our mom is intolerable when she gets them. You got to smell geese? Our mom says they have big poop. Our mom also said there was no need for us to share that information with you. Enjoy your cool weather
ReplyDeleteGEESE POOPS? Can you mail us some?
ReplyDeleteWe laffed at your next-door kitty, and we're glad it's not "Russellish"; we laffed at that too!
Our humidity got up to about 12% today...no rain in sight for us, either.
it's been very cool here - but dry too. we hadded such a wet spring and now we haf not had a lot of rain for a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteYou had a furry interesting weekend! Whiffin geese poo, hahameow. Teri's brother lives in Tucson and so she knows about deserts having monsoons!
ReplyDeleteI am working on sending some of ours to you--we weren't flooded but I think we all feel a little bit like prunes up here. Now our rain is gone--is there any in sight for you?!
ReplyDeleteThat cat sort of looks meezerish.
ReplyDeleteTry to stay cool.
you are good kitties taking care of mommy.
ReplyDeleteemma and buster
Sorry your Mom is not feeling well. We will send her our best purrs :)
ReplyDeleteWe are amazed at the kitty hanging out the window :o Good thing kitty is happy to just 'hang' out!! heehee
We are glad the smoke and fires are not too bad for you. We purr for those affected. The weather really is crazy this year :/
Purrs Tillie and Georgia
