Well, you know how I said I was going to watch for my crow friends again this weekend? My mom put out some walnuts again and again they came, so that was pretty fun. But then do you know what? A Northern Flicker came to visit today! He was too far away to get a good picture of him, so I got this photo from the National Park Service so you could see how fancy these woodpeckers are. I haven't seen one since 2006, so this was really fun!

My mom was pretty excited to see him too. And beyond that, I helped her read a book and nap this weekend. It was pretty good all the way around.
That was a fancy woodpecker!
ReplyDeleteWow, that was a fancy bird! Very exciting! And I'm sure your mom appreciated the help with the napping and reading. You are such a great helper!
ReplyDeleteTucker's Mom
You are really a good helper boy, sweet William!
ReplyDeleteThat is one very cool looking bird. We don't get those coming around our window. I did get to see a hummingbird today tho' & was pretty excited!
That is a cool looking bird, Mr. William! We don't know nuffin about birds, so we'll just learn from you! Your weekend sounds pretty good to us. In fact, it's about the same as ours, except my mom didn't read. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fancy bird, William. Looks almost good enough to....nah, never mind!
ReplyDeleteoh oh oh!! Mommy LOVES Flickers. We have a paucity of birds here in Vegas unless you go down to the Wash or the wetlands. She goes to Tucson for her birdy fix.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is awesome! We haven't had one of those yet. We do get a pileated female woodpecker that stops by in the Spring as she migrates to the park a mile away.
ReplyDeleteWe have a pilieated feeder, but she won't stay.
Someone who came into the bird store told her that he gets a male in his yard and he backs up to that park. We think she goes to see him.
I am glad you're having a nice weekend. My daddy was even off today. It was nice. My mommy is reading a funny book and the main lady has a kitty named "Prozac." We think that is funny funny.
As for the "Porker" thing. I am totally offended for you. Do you need me to come over for some 3am yowling?
Thanks for the tutorial Mr. William.
ReplyDeleteWe now learn how to "appreciate" birds more! (hehehe)
Seeing them must lots of fun~!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe can't see those kind of bird here~~
Wow, you got a special guest star on Bird TV!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool looking bird! Our feeder has attracted some rather drab birdies this Winter. Three pairs of mourning doves, a hand full of gold-crowned sparrows and some towhees. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteWow, he would be a pawsome snack! Visitor. We meant visitor. :-P
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bird! Full and plump and tasty......
ReplyDeletePay no attention the the Porko business William. Little sisters can be so vindictive. You are gorgeous in that basket!
We get two different types of woodpeckers that come to our feeders but none as fancy as yours.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!! What a pretty bird!! We would have been excited to see him. Mom too!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun weekend :)
