Thursday Wrap-Up.

I had a pretty exciting day today. It was WILLIAM vs. THE ANTS! When my mom got up, I was already busy in the hallway. She thought it might be a spider or something, since with all the rain lately, I think lots of insects come in to stay dry. But when she turned on the light, she saw there were lots and lots of ants! I was trying to get them under control but there were lots in the living room, too.

Now, we have a deal with the ants, and it is, feel free to parade all over the retaining wall in the yard but you can't come in to the house. Sometimes there's a veritable river of ants on the wall, so large I can see it from my window! When Mom went outside at first light to check out what was going on, she found that the River of Ants had deviated from the retaining wall to the northeast corner of the house...flowed all along the east side...rounded the corner and flowed all along the south side...and instead of heading toward our tree, had rounded another corner and flowed along the west side! Too bad they're not fun to eat, else we would have had a banquet!

Well, I guess I did a good job because they seem to be gone now. Time to rest!

Have a fun weekend, everybody! And if you get a ton of bugs in your house, I hope they're edible!

  2. I think you effectively told them they had come to the wrong area, William. Funny how they changed their usual route.

  3. Ants! We have never gotten to deal with ants. So they're no good to eat? hmmm.
William, which do you think is harder to herd; ants or Cats?

  4. We always get some in the spring when the weather starts to change. But not hoards of them like you have! Our mom would be freakin' out!

  5. We had an ant problem in our house too. We had to buy non-toxic bug spray and ant traps. We bought the non toxic stuff so the cats don't get harmed. Ants are annoying, they go everywhere.

  6. We had ants come visit a few years agio and man did the people get excited! I think that was because they decided to swim in my fountain without an invitation and that was rude, and who likes rude guests? Anyway, they went away pretty freaking quick...

  9. Unlike me, the Human finds it distasteful to kill things. However, she makes an exception for ants in large numbers, and to her, any number larger than zero is a large number.

She secretly believes that San Francisco's fabled hills are made of ANTS!

  10. Ugh! We've had ant problems in the past, in the kitchen and in the basement, though not in the last handful of years--knock on wood. Our human doesn't like mass quantities of insects, and much like Spitty's mum, anything more than zero is a mass quantity.

Good for you for taking care of the problem, William!

  15. Hey William,
Maybe your mom could find an orphaned anteater and adopt it. They supposedly like the taste of ants...plus it might make a fun playmate for the rest of you.
    Take Care,
