Happy Spring.

Spring is here, it's almost full moon, and Skeeter, LC and Ayla tagged me for a fun meme. It's so timely, too, because I've been studying up. Here are the rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book
2. Open to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the next three sentences

My nearest book is, of course, Birds of New Mexico Field Guide. This is my favorite book right after all the Olivia books my Aunt M has given us. So here's the rest of the meme:
"Listen for the very high-pitched "sreee" whistling sounds it constantly makes. Obtains mask after first year and red wing tips after second year. Doesn't nest in New Mexico."
Can you guess what it is? It's a Cedar Waxwing. I've never seen one except for the picture in my book. (Actually, we've probably had about a million come to feed and Russell's probably climbed up the window to scare them away.) I found another picture, though, to share.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

I left off rule no. 5 (tag and alert) because I couldn't trace the origin of the meme like I like to do and I think lots of others have already been tagged. But if you want to play, go ahead–and if you have a book about birds nearby that you're reading, all the better!
