So I finally talked my mom into subscribing to the morning paper so we can preserve our afternoon ritual (we have other things to do in the morning). We'd gone into withdrawal almost on contact and Mom had to scout out a newspaper box after hunting, remembering only as she was pulling into the driveway. Since I watch for her out of the den window, I could read her lips once she realized she had one more thing to do. So only one more day of the newspaper box and then we should be getting the Journal expertly skimmed into the dirtalways a treat when Mom unfolds it!
I guess this will be okay, although this paper has none of my favorite comics. I suppose I'll have to add online visits to keep up with those. My very favorite is Get Fuzzy, and don't tell anyone, but I always sympathize with poor Satchel.
But in the meantime, this cheered me up: Jasper, Josie, Huggy Bear and Maggie honored me again with this award. Thanks, guys!
Newsy papers are good. It means mum opens the door and I get some fresh, if cold, air in the house.
ReplyDeletePlus sometimes, snow, rain or dirt like yours!
Sometimes our newspaper man tosses the paper into the yard. He makes sure to do this in the summer when the automatic sprinklers are sure to get the paper good. He also does this when Momma is traveling and Poppa can't get across the grass in his wheelchair. Hmm. I'm going to go poop on my newspaper man's head.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to keep your rituals going. It's always fun to get a little 'dirt' too ;)

We read Get Fuzzy everyday! Plus, we get to rip it to shreds when DKM is done with the paper. ~Fiona Bun
ReplyDeleteI hope you & your mom enjoy your new newspaper! You *do have an excellent blog - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you will be getting a new paper so you can enjoy your routine. I hate having mine broken up!
ReplyDeleteOur beans get a paper delivered every day too. It is fun to sit on it and tear it into strips!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and Well Deserved! You do have an excellent blog. Glad your mom and you can get back into the after work newsparper reading schedule and have it delivered to your door (or dirt) soon.
ReplyDeleteOoops. I meant newspaper not newsparper.
ReplyDeleteMoms day just isn't right unless she has the morning paper. And ours just isn't right unless we can lay on it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever read that cartoon, I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteConcatulations on your award.
A well deserved award Wm., since your blog is, and always has been excellent.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked your award. Mon and Dad just love the picture of the three of you in the window. Russell has a very cute face.
