At least no one ate the little foam things that used to be on the chewed-on ear bits, although it did take me and Mom a lot of time to find them. So, you know, when someone keeps asking about decorations and someone keeps doing stuff like this, digging somebody else's toys out of the junk drawer and chewing the life out of them... Sigh. We have LBS* going on, of course we have to stay plain this month. (*Little Brother Syndrome.)

I think all little wires like that deserve the toothy death. I have done that to all kinds of wires. My dad is a master at splicing them back together now.
