Q And A.

I used to try to answer questions I got in the comments but I was never sure if anyone checked back. Then Derby had that great post about Answer Cat! So I've gone back and picked out questions to answer here.

On Olivia
DaisyMae Maus, Hobbes, Patches and FAZ:
The kangaroo is Olivia's invention. She claims the doctor put a kangaroo in her when she had her operation and that's why she's got that whole belly thing going on. She's kinda sensitive about the kangaroo but apparently it comes in quite handy sometimes--she's been known to blame the kangaroo for getting her into trouble.

On The Cat Tower
Simba:
This design was something I made up all by myself. I based it largely on 1) the size of Mom's car and what kind of stuff she can haul home from Lowe's and 2) our lack of a radial saw. So when she brought home a bunch of things, I had to think about it for a long time and then experiment with different configurations. Want to know the secret ingredients? The posts are made out of 3" PVC pipe and those are secured to the wooden base and wood perches with toilet flanges! (She remembered how much I love toilet parts!) The cat boxes are wood vegetable bins Mom got from Michael's and modified for sleeping spots. I still have to put some finishing paint touches on it...I think maybe paw print and fish stamps or something. And more toys, too.

Oh, and it's secured to the wall so we can't really go flying. :-(

On Greens
Luna, Junior and Daisy:
Romaine lettuce is surprisingly good! It tastes like mild grass--the outdoor kind, not the cat kind. I do like a good chew every now and then--I can pretend I'm outside without the danger! I've been known to nibble on celery leaves too, although they have a very odd flavor.

On Caroline

One-Eyed Jack and Midnight:
I have no idea why Caroline is so bent on biting off my ears. She's like a little alligator or something, snap, snap, snap! I never try to bite her ears off. And as for the Restless Tail Syndrome? She does that RTS thing to my mom, too. Usually when Mom's reading the paper or working on the computer, Caroline will just smack her about a hundred times in the face. I don't think there's a cure for RTS.

On The Mosaic
Merlin, Shadow, KO KO, Simba and Spoiler:
Well, it took Mom a hundred years to get it sealed, but it is officially done. This was another thing that took forever because I kept changing my mind about the design. Plus, it was the first time we'd ever done anything like that, so we did have some untiling to do in the beginning. Mom said making me and Eddie was the fun part, because we're made out of stained glass, which was so much easier than cutting tiles. We also used little engraved metal pieces, glass hearts, and ceramic stars and shapes that remind me of cat food--so I guess the outcome is kinda like Meow Mixed Media! (Merlin, Shadow, KO KO--Mom got a book called Heidi Borchers' Beginner's Guide to Mosaics.)

Here's the part where I'm going to bore you with closeup pictures. (These are left to right.)

Wake up, now!

  10. The mosaic is wonderful. You can never move because that is too precious to leave behind.

We have to convince Mommy & Daddy to make us a giant cat tower too. Your ideas are awesome, and since we don't have a radial saw either ...

  16. Wow! You and your mom are a great team! I am going to print out a picture of your kitty condo and leave it for my beans. Maybe they'll get the hint about fixing up our rickety one. Mom thinks your countertop is amazing too and I love the mosaics of you and Eddie.
