Goodbye 2006.

Snow snow snow. I think the earth is on some weird tilt, like somebody maybe in Canada or the North Pole or somewhere far away has collected one too many National Geographics and thrown the whole universe into a tizzy. Or at least my universe. The snow finally stopped yesterday, 15" later. Even if I'd hitched a ride on Kangaroo Girl I wouldn't have been able to see over it! The sun came out today, but tonight? We're stuck in some eerie thick fog. This is the weirdest winter I've ever seen.

Anyway, we're staying in tonight. (Ha ha ha, that's a joke, because we never go out anyway!) We had a busy day taking down the decorations and cleaning and stuff, so we're pretty tired anyway. We had salmon and crab for a last day of the year dinner and we're ready to curl up until next year.

Happy new year, everyone! Be safe and warm and happy and healthy!

The view from my house at about 11:00 p.m. on Friday night.

  1. That view is very beautiful, although I don't think I'd like the snow. We didn't get any down here (further south).

    Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year, William and family. We got lots of snow, too. I am very happy about it because it means a much safer fire season this year, but it does make a mess.

  4. Happy 2007 William, Eddie, Olivia, Caroline and your Mom. What a beautiful picture. We all stayed in last night too. Tommy and I stayed up until midnight New Mexico time but I think Mom went to sleep at midnight Australian time.

  5. Are you sure you don't live in a State of Winter? Yup, I think that is what happened, you moved and forgot.

  6. I haven't experienced snow yet. It looks lovely! Mom says the forecast says we should get a couple of inches tomorrow. It will be my first snow!

Happy New Year! :) As we say in Germany: Frohes neues Jahr!

  7. Dat snow looks reely purrty, just like a Chris Mouse card. We don't get much snow here, maybe an inch or two some winters, and uvver times we don't get enny. We allus get rain though, and lots of it.
A Happy Noo Yeer to yoo.

  10. It looks cold there just like here. So much for an inch of snow. While the sun has been out since Friday afternoon, it hasn't thawed out the sheets of ice on some streets. That'll probably come in the spring. We're glad to be inside being warm.

From all of us, we would like to wish everyone at your house a very happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous new year.

  13. That's a beautiful wintery view of yur yard. As weird as it is at yur house, it's just a weird in Connecticat. It's 50+ degrees here today. Too warm to efun store the champagne on the porch to keep it cold! Hee hee. Well, at least at the party the beans went to. We don't drink champagne as a rule. We like nip instead. Have a happy healthy wealthy and wise 2007!

  14. I think you're right about the world being tilted. I think though it's because my Mom got rid of a bunch of National Geographics this summer! Here in Ohio we've had practically no snow all winter and that is really weird. Just day after day of grey and drizzle (which Mom says is REALLY depressing). So if you can talk to your weather man and convince him to send some of your snow here we'd appreciate it. Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your 'beans!

  15. That's a really pretty picture. I think my mom's Pyrex collection should even out that tilting thing pretty soon. Happy Mew Year to you and Eddie and Olivia and Caroline and your mom!

  16. Hi William -

Can you send some of that snow over here to Northern Virginia? Mom loves snow, but it's been really mild so far this winter. Some of the early spring flowers have even bloomed.

    Happy New Year!
