Well, my mom got so wrapped up in trying to decide what to have for dinner that she completely forgot to help me blog. It's just good she didn't forget our dinner. And her dinner can wait a bit longer–I need to post!

It's been a crazy and busy week here. And we are all going to have a three-day weekend! Personally, I can't wait for it to start.

Here, mothy, mothy! You are now transfixed by my magic Attract-a-Moth™ tail action!

Yes, it's come to this. Last night Mom found a moth the size of Kangaroo Girl in her bathroom. Do you think she let us in to take care of it? No! Once again we heard the Shop Vac whine into action. No more moth.

Isn't there a law against this sort of mom behavior?

So we couldn't take pictures because we don't have any filters for the camera, but I drew this from memory.

Pretty cool, right? (OK, it might have been more perfectly round.) With our 99 eyeball filters, it really looked red! It was pretty exciting all the way around.

Hey, I'm just thinking–we should have had a special eclipse dinner to go with the fun!

Wow, what a week! Now I need to rest up for that special eclipse on Sunday–we are right in the optimum path! I can't wait.

I guess I better get some of those special eclipse-viewing glasses. I wonder if they'll have my size. Hmm. I better snooze on it.

I'd rather play with test toys than deal with technical glitches, that's for sure. My mom says she hopes to have the final thing resolved soon. I hope so. I have some more ideas she needs to help with!

But tonight I am protecting something very special. I didn't want Mom to take a picture of me with it because I don't want any girl cats reading this to get jealous.

All our camera batteries are dead. Score!

We had some extraordinary fun this weekend. A giant moth got into the house and teased us for three whole days! He was pretty wily, hiding behind pictures, landing behind the stove, flying far out of reaches and leaps. But...you know how moms are when we get so excited over stuff. They first say, Don't wreck the house for a moth, and then when we nearly do, That's it. He's going right into the Shop Vac.

So, that's where our moth finally went.

So the dove came back yesterday evening. This time Russell scared him away with his dumb pointy toes on the window. You know how that turned out. We all had to get our toenails done. Did everybody hear Caroline scream during her turn? I think she set off a few car alarms here.

And you know how suddenly other stuff becomes more important than your stuff? Well, my store opening has been delayed, and all because my mom has to pay attention to some client's web project. If I really really were her favorite tiny boy, she wouldn't let this get in the way.

So I guess it's still a few more days off. I think we should all have a fun weekend while we wait, then!

It's me, Caroline!

Here I am on my little cat quilt., minding my Ps and Qs. I often stay right here while Mom is working because I am a very good cat!

We've had some pretty exciting times in the last few days. First, our brand-new patio umbrella was all eaten up by a fierce gust of wind yesterday! The frame got all mangled despite it being closed and the canopy went sailing into space! Mom walked all around, then drove all around, trying to locate it, and it was just plain gone. Gone!

That little dove came back, though. Mom made him go away again. We haven't seen him since.

The cooler guys were by today to prep the swamp cooler. It's been like a million degrees here already and you know how we hate the hots! So that's running now, but guess what else? The guys found the missing umbrella canopy on the roof!

So maybe the little dove will come back too...

Hi Mom! No, I'm not mad that you wouldn't let me inspect the toys you were trying to photograph, even though I would have been very thorough. And no, I'm not mad that you shooed away that young white winged dove that came to visit on the balcony, even though he may have been a flying dinner of some sort.

And really, it wasn't me who put another claw gash in the window film on the sliding door. Really.

Yes, it's true–despite my mom's usual feebleness about remembering a.) the real date or b.) at all, today is actually my birthday. But not to worry–I'll celebrate tomorrow, too! And at nine, aren't I just the live wire?

And do you know what I'm getting? An online store for handmade cat toys and stuff! That's my exciting cat news! The best part? I get to test all the prototype toys my mom makes, so really, I've been celebrating for weeks! We'll bombard you with shameless self-promotion when it goes live (which should be in days!).

And yes, yesterday I was all The Shadow* and got past Mom and a few steps from the front door. I am clever like that! Then it wore off and she saw me and told me to come back in. I did. She also said I shaved 10 years off her life, but I know she sometimes exaggerates. Nobody else has much interest in going out, but when I see a chance to explore, I go for it!**

And today was just another Wednesday!

Oh, and it was not me who flew out the front door this morning when Mom was fixing the strike plate. That would be the same cat who took a little unauthorized stroll on the balcony last fall.

I was good all day, didn't try to explore, went upstairs when Mom told me to, and in fact managed to chase out an errant fly who came in. See? I was good all day!
