All Quiet On The Western Front.

No real household excitement this week. The refrigerator seems so happy that Mom even restocked the freezer. And, in anticipation of the new exterior shade, she removed the window film from the sliding door so we have a clear view of things, which is very nice.

Our trees are all leafed out and the weather's been pleasant. We've even seen butterflies! Mom promises she is going to dig out the hummingbird feeders and hang them in the tree, and hopefully we'll have a little entertainment soon. Little entertainment, get it?

A PSA from Mom (wearing her professional hat) -- WordPress bloggers, if you're on your own host: I've seen an alarming uptick in foreign login attempts this past week. If you don't have a firewall plugin in place, get one; if you're using the generic admin or administrator to log in, change that to something complex and unique ASAP. Make sure too that your WordPress app, theme and all plugins are up to date. If you need help or advice, feel free to email me (address at left, under Copyright). The cat blogger help desk is open!

  2. Hooray and welcome to Spring! We agree on the security thing and we've had around 330 attempts per day according to Wordfence.

    1. The sites Mom maintains use Wordfence, too. Lots of attempts, but this is the first week we've actually experienced blocks from actual attempts, though.

Sounds like you have spring coming in like gangbusters. We are still kind of waiting but it is almost here. We hope you can see all the flyers soon.

  5. Spring has sprung. Hopefully your hummingbird feeders will attract lots of birds to amuse you.

My WP admin page shows 800+ blocked login attempts but doesn't give the timeframe. I'm not using any other security plugins but also don't use the default admin acct/pswd.

  6. Thanks for the PSA! I will have to get my human to double check the backend of the blog to make sure no nasties are causing trouble! We have a pretty hardcore setup on my blog (and on her publishing website too - in fact, she locked herself out last night), but you never know.

  10. The Hummers don't like to come around our house for some reason; though, Mom plants all the flowers they are supposed to like right near the feeder. We might see one or two all summer. Enjoy your bird TV. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

  13. Thanks for reminding our mom that she needs to get our hummingbird feeders out too.

And thanks for the PSA. The mom hasn't noticed any issues (she uses WordFence) but will keep an eye out. Does your mom know a lot about Wordpress because our mom is always looking for someone to help her with problems.

  14. Thanks for the warning about the attempted logins. We checked our security for the blog, and oh, boy, do people attempt some whacky usernames.
