High Anxiety.

Well, Elliott scratched out his drain again, this time right as we were about to get dinner this evening. We did get to eat since it was all but out for us, my mom called the cat fix-it place, cleaned up the aftermath and then rushed him off to the emergency again. (Bast help us if CSI ever sprays Luminol in this place, Mom says.)

The good news is that El did not get another drain. (The on-call vet consulted with our regular vet, who advised against further trauma.) His ear has generally improved somewhat, but he's also been on a few medications since the regular checkup last week. The not-so-good news is that of that, Mom wears the third medication, since Elliott will not tolerate it AT ALL. (I can't blame him--it reeks.)

Mom says all of this makes her want to eat a side of beef and top it with two quarts of Ben & Jerry's. I say that's OK as long as she shares.

  1. Oh, Ell, we understand but seriously, you're making your mom crazy - and not in that fun way either. At least you didn't have to get another drain.

  2. Geez, Elliott - I think you make more trouble for yourself than you realize! Either that, or you really want some of that side of beef and ice cream.

  3. Poor Mom! I think she needs that Ben & Jerry's. Wonder if they deliver? We are purrin' our best for Elliott's earsicle. Maybe Screamoline should have a talk with him?

  4. Well, that's some good news for Elliot - no more pesky drain! I'd definitely eat the ice cream (maybe not so much beef).

  6. Elliott...dood! C'mon now! But, I too am a poor patient, so I sympathize. The quip about CSI and luminol was funny!

  7. Elliot - don't destroy your nurse! We understand that you are not cooperating, but don't forget to give your nurse a salary!

  8. I am glad you didn't need to have the drain put back, Elliott. You have to try and be good for your medication. I know it's not nice, but even though it seems like torture, it is to try and make you feel better.

  9. A side of beef and two quarts of Ben & Jerry's sounds awesome to me! We're glad Elliott is rid of the drain. I know about cats that are impossible to medicate at home. The vets make it look so easy :(

  10. Are you giving Elliot pills or liquid medication? If you are giving pills ask the doctor for a pill syringe
It makes it a lot easier to pill with the syringe
Hope that helps with the meds Will say some prayers and send loads of purrs

  12. Oh dear. This sounds miserable, especially for your mom. Our mom can relate, since she's been struggling to medicate Skootch with 2 different meds. Fortunately one of them gets compounded with tuna flavor, so she can squirt it on his food.
We think your mom should add a big glass of cabernet to drink with the side of beef!
