Update From Mom.

Thank you all so very much for your kind words. They have meant so much to us during this heartbreaking time.

Russell was diagnosed with acute renal failure. This is the same awful thing that took PQ only a few months ago. Because two instances so close together are very unusual and the typical causes aren't present, Dr. R. thought it might be a bacterial infection that caused it. Testing for that is not terribly reliable, but we decided to try a course of antibiotics.

This may only be postponing the inevitable; he had a few relatively good days and then a not so good day. This afternoon he's got his appetite back and is receptive to my affection, but the roller coaster ride continues. Our goal is to make sure he is comfortable and with us as long as he can be.

  8. I am purring my extra-strongest, loudest, most rumbly purrs EVER for Sweet Pretzel Boy and his loving family. The Human does not purr NEARLY as well as I do, but she is doing the best she can. We are sending you lots and lots of love and purrayers that Russell feels better and continues to improve. I want to send him a big ManCatly hug--could your Mom do that for me, please??? And one from the Human too? Oh, and a kissie from me to You-Know-Who (no, William, not you).
