My mom has had this bracelet for 39 years.
Major Holmes (USAF) has been missing for 46.
Everywhere she goes, it goes.
His name is also at Panel 06E - Line 10, on the Wall.
His remains have never been recovered.

We are so sorry that his remains were never recovered. What a wonderful honor to always wear the bracelet. Purrs.
ReplyDeleteThat is the hardest thing of all. The Human's godfather, her mom's youngest brother Dickie, went MIA in Korea in 1951. He had a wife, and an infant daughter he never got to hold. Although she of course knew the odds, the Human's mother never quite entirely gave up hope. She died in 1983 and the Human likes to think they had a joyful reunion in heaven.
ReplyDeleteWe are very touched that your Mom wears that bracelet. The Human says it is a Good Thing to remember those who gave their lives. ::bows head::
You tell your mom thank you for wearing that bracelet and never forgetting. Teri's uncle Ralph was also MIA in Cambodia and she posts about him every Memorial Day...

It's important to remember. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteThe Woman had one of those bracelets, but she doesn't remember the name on it. Someone older who should have known better made her take it off at the end of that war. It still bothers her.
ReplyDeletePeople who sacrificed should never be forgotten...
I'm very glad your Mom still has hers.
I am glad your human still has her bracelet - that way she will always remember.
ReplyDeleteNice that your mom still wears it.
