Rain.

So it's been raining off and on for the last few days. This makes my trees very happy, and my snail friends, too, who come out and have a social. Not so much for my bird pals, though. Here's one of my new little sparrow friends waiting it out.

You can also see the giant red dots Mom put on the back door so my dove friends wouldn't get confused with the reflection of the sky and fly into the glass. And one of our many mobiles in front of the kitchen window so they won't get confused and fly into that. Our patio is quite colorful this year with all these bird warning things!

  2. Hmmm, maybe that is why mum has her wind chimes and the ribbon thingy hanging outside the doors. We just have birdie shapes on our doors, your dots are huge.

Mum keeps our birdie food inside metal trash cans so the mousies can't get at the big stash. But they can get at the stuff that the birdies drop on the ground or the squirrels knock down. Mum tries to keep in clean.

  5. How nice of you to think about your bird friends! You would hate for one to fly into the glass.

  6. I really like the way your Mom watches out for the birds and tries to keep them from flying into the glass. I think we have some sparrows builing a nest in our garage, which is open on two sides. Our birdies have really been hungry lately, so I guess they are feeding little ones. We have also been having rain. I got pretty wet walking home from work on Monday.

  9. Those dots are a great idea. We had a lovely little yellow birdie hit ours and go to Rainbow Bridge for birds, last nite.

  10. Maybe our Mommie should put dots on our windows too, the birds ran into them several times last fall.

  12. That glass mobile is very pretty. I like the colors. Are snails good friends? I think they might be a little slow.

  13. Your mom is very kind to put up all those things for your birds. My mom just never washes the windows, so there is never any problem with that. But Mom would tell you that it's because our windows are 6 over 6, whatever that means...

  14. Good for your Mommy - that means you get to watch a lot more bird action, no "bird laying still and dead" action!

  15. Those red dots are a good idea. I'll be curious as to whether or not they work. Mourning doves don't seem to be particularly bright so I hope these help.

  16. How cute the little bird is, just waiting to be able to go back out and play, or fly, whatever. Really like the mobile with it's pretty colors.

PS A sitting bird is no fun.
    Mom: Shame on you Casper.

  17. I like your mobile! That is a great idea to keep the birdies safe. We have stuff like that too.
My birdies only like a light rain, but certainly not for days and days.

  18. Those big red dots... thought you had opened a liquor store, but the bird warning makes more sense. Nice birdie shot.
