Setting The Record Straight.

OK, with tomorrow being Friday the 13th, I thought I'd better write something truthy on behalf of black cats everywhere.
  1. If a black cat crosses your path, you will have good luck. If the cat's name is William, you will have extreme good luck.
  2. It's believed by some that black cats have special powers and abilities. If the cat's name is William, he will have unbelievable special powers and abilities.
  3. If a black cat walks towards you, it brings good fortune, but if it walks away, it takes the good luck with it. Unless the walking away cat's name is William–he's just getting treats or something.
  4. To meet a black cat is usually fortunate, but in some places the luck is only considered released if the cat is politely greeted, or stroked three times. Personally I like "Hi, William! I missed you a bunch today!" and lots of rubs on the belly.
  5. If a black cat comes into the house, it is considered a very lucky sign, and the cat should never be chased away in case it takes the luck of the house with it. If the black cat's name is William, his new mom probably said, "William, I'm so glad you came to live with me. I am so so lucky to have you."
So see? Superstitions about black cats are just dumb. Maybe they were just started by a bunch jealous dogs or something.

  9. Those things just confirm what we already knew about you Wm. Mom had a black cat named Shadow (one of those that came before us) and she said Shadow was a good cat, so I believe everything you said about black cats.

  13. William, you can try, but some humans just insist on remaining superstitious and ignorant. Only the wise know the true value of the black cat. Happy Friday the 13th.
